Got to thinking about this and wonder if my thoughts are correct?

Back in the 80's, pre-encryption, we had what 10 - 15 satellites, and up to 24 transponders per satellite, with one analog signal per transponder (if they were all used). Now granted, everything there was available, but on a signal/channel count basis do we not have more available today that we can watch ITC?

Sure, we don't have HBO, Cinemax, The Movie Channel, TBS, TNN, CNN, etc., but we have a ton of viewable signals. Personally, most of what we have available is better than a lot of the Premium Channel programming, anyway.

Thanks.

I was going through an old disk last night and found a bunch of old recordings from back when Equity was rockin N rollin.

There is definitely NOT more today than used to be in FTA.

My reference point is back to the days when people were spending $3000 to $8000 for a big dish setup.

Today, there far more channels available. The operative being "available", not watchable. Watchable, is somewhat a personal thing, as one parties likes are another parties dislikes. Today if you speak Spanish and English, you couldn't enough time in the day to keep up with all of it.

I am fortunate enough to live where I have enough bandwidth to use Roku, so that along with FTA and OTA I have more than enough entertainment. Throw in the DVD/VHS collection and I should NEVER, EVER not be able to find something I want to watch.

For the Americans, here, Have Happy 4th of July Weekend.
