Somewhere I read that the HR44 Genie has an LNB power inserter built in. Is this true? The installer that installed my service installed an external LNB power inserter.

You would rather have an external one...just in case of failure....or for the little woman at home would make it a bit easier to fix on her own?

I wonder why they decided to go to an external power adapter for the LNB.

Because the power has to come from the house and you are not going to send 110 v up to the dish, and then put a bulky transformer there.

Too many trouble calls regarding customers unplugging the PI without knowing what the device they just unplugged did.

You do know they had to call in and speak with someone at DirecTV in tech before a repairman is sent out.

Now that's the best part.
I hardly blame the CSRs on this cases. Husband goes to the basement while wife is watching TV and unplugs the PI to connect electric drill. Wife clueless sees 775 and is none the wiser since TV was working fine a few seconds ago. Wife calls DIRECTV without saying nothing to husband, CSR tells wife to locate PI and she has no idea where it is. CSR sets up a service call.

these happen SOOO much and it drives me insane.

Also hate when techs don't log where the PI is so we have to search for it for an hour...

No offense to any here, but I also dislike retail installations because NO equipment is logged, so we have no clue where the PI is there either.

No logging is actually a double edge sword, so to speak. Techs try to hide from customers for a reason, so they dont mess with it, but when they do, it can be found.... Sooooo.......

It is, but it also makes things more difficult on our end when it isn't logged though.

It complicates things. I know the techs hide it. I've had customers find little compartments in the back of their entertainment system that they didn't know was ever there and the PI was hidden in there. But when they call in, and WE don't know where it's at, it can get complicated if it's not behind a receiver.

Also, when I meant the techs don't log it, I meant they don't log it under the equipment info so CSRs don't have a clue where it's at. Not that they don't tell the customer, because.. I really don't want them to tell the customer most of the time. :/
