Well, I finally made the call last week and my install is set for Thursday. I was a DirecTV subscriber from '95-'05, but had to switch to cable because of lack of signal where I had moved to. I just moved and now that I may have a better chance for a signal, I wanted to come back. The install was set for Saturday, but I received a call today saying because of a cancellation, they can move me up. But, as I typed the install companys' name to do a Google search for their phone number, a bunch of customer complaint websites came up first. Has anyone dealt with Halstead Communications? I read quite a few pi** poor reviews with some very unhappy customers. Is there anything I can do to request another install company, do it myself or just see what happens?

Thanks everyone!

You will get a lot of bad installations with most companies. Most people hate Mastec, but I got a decent install even though I got ripped out of $50. D* installation can be a mess.

Here in CT Halsted isn't very good, but you may get a really good installer. There is no choice if Directv handles the install because they sub it to the local company, and there is only one in most areas. Don't worry, it will probably be fine. BTW, where are you located?

Thank you for the positive comments:-) But, they were already here and now gone within 5 minutes. The installer called at 6:45am, (luckily I was up) 1 hour and 15 minutes ahead of the scheduled window of 8am-12pm to tell me that they cannot place the slim line dish on a tripod...which is what I requested at the time of my order LAST WEEK, because of town-house rules here. He did give me the good news that I DO have a clear line of sight for all 5 satellites. I left a message for the HOA here to see if by some miracle they'll allow me to plant a poll for the dish.

Does anyone else have any ideas that still may allow me to catch week 1 of the NFL season this weekend???

Thanks!

Well, my only hope was the tripod, because I can't attach the dish to the structure...as far as I know. And I'm fairly certain that I cannot dig a hole either, as we don't own anything outside the sheet rock.

Anyone else have a dish?
If so, how's it set up.

I assume this is a condo since you mentioned not owning anything outside the sheet rock.

Yes, it's a town house community and no else has a dish. The community is barely 2 years old. I spoke with the HOA people this morning and I need to actually fill out a 3 page "Architectural Modification Application" where I even need to have my neighbors sign the application that they give consent. I told my wife we should have just bought a house!!!!! Guess I won't be seeing any NFL Sunday Ticket this weekend.

They can not stop you by FCC rules. Is neighbor approval in the Association rules? I ask because live in a Townhome. I am the president and we do not have the need to get other homeowners approval to make changes. OTARD prevents them from putting those demands in place.

Put this in front of your management company and HOA board.
FCC Fact Sheet on Placement of Antennas

You still have a chance at NFL ST this weekend.
