I've noticed that the geometry of the screen is not quite correct with the Voom receiver on the SD channels. If I watch an SD channel at 480i, the image is slightly compressed vertically. Perfect squares become slightly rectangular, circles become slightly elliptical.

If I watch an SD channel upconverted to 1080i by the box, everything becomes compressed horizontally. The same effects happen, just in the opposite way. People's faces and bodies look tall and skinny, squares become rectangles, circles become ovals, etc..

This is not due to screen stretching by the TV -- in all cases, I am looking at a 4:3 picture with the bars on the side.

If I view the same channels through Comcast cable, this distortion is not present, so it appears to be Voom-specific.

It's not a HUGE distortion such as what you would see when stretching or scaling a 4:3 image to fit a 16:9 screen. The distortion at 1080i is worse than the distortion at 480i, but it's certainly noticeable in both cases.

Compression. Have you seen the Univ HD commercial?

Voom- please fix the PQ issues on CNN, TWC, MTV, VH1, and others
