I just purchased a DirecTV DVR (HD10-250) and am having an intermittent problem with it and my Sony projection TV. On occasion, the video images will become distorted, where the top and bottom of the screen will be bent in towards the center. It looks very similar to a computer monitor when you set it to a frequency it doesnt support. The whole image waves in and out and you can see various red and green lines pop in and out. Turning the TV off and back on again makes it go away.
I dont know too much about how the TV and DVR convert between resolutions. I'm wondering if it doesnt have something to do with the DVR and TV trying to convert various signal types.
I have the DVR set to use 1080i at 16x9. I'm also using the DVI input on the TV. I read some posts with people having problems with the HDMI to DVI cable but none seemed to be this specific problem.
Anyone have any ideas?
