Now that Analoge has shut down, and there are no laws in regards to digital distant networks and testing for them, has any one tried getting distant networks from Directv under this. Over at dish you just have to call ADD and they will give them to you. Just wondering if anyone knew of ordering info and if directv is doing this like how dish is.

My Neighbor just Tried, and D* denied.
They said because they currently offered HD locals in our area.
But All American Direct would give him 4 SD west,4 SD East, and 4 HD Either LA or Chicago.
Even though we still get locals through Dishnetwork.

That would be cool. Sometimes I wish D* would give channels like E* does.

True. But this comes with a Price. The 8 East and West channels are not too bad in price. $12.99, But 4 HD networks will cost you $24.99 atleast. Can be Higher if you don't subscribe to the SD versions.

Damn. I would be happier if D* would get all the HBOs and all of them in HD. It would be cheaper.:D

Isn't this why Dish lost the ability to broadcast distant networks? Now if ADD does the same loose approvals, won't they too stand a chance of experiencing the same demise?

does anyone know why in the last couple of days has the ny/la channels apear in my guide iin the 80 range and 382 and up ..and i noticed ch 382 nbc sd out of la comes in at night>>>

If the HBO suite in HD is all that you want, DIRECTV is not a good choice as a provider at this time.

DIRECTV wrote the book about why you shouldn't believe any of the propaganda about adding HBO channels in HD.

Apparently the rules have changed with the digital transition and the NAB wasn't paying attention. DISH is still prohibited from delivering DNS but AAD isn't.

I would imagine that once DIRECTV figures out what Charlie discovered, they will figure out some way of serving up DNS to those who want it.

Yes for violating distant network laws in reguards to Anologe channels, Were an all digital system now an there is no such thing as a digital distant network according to the law, and the anologue laws dont apply to digital signals. There isnt a test for what contures a digital grade B.

Because we are Digital and no laws exist in reguards to a digital signal, ADD or Directv for that matter would not experance the same demise because....

1. Its not illiegal to retransmit a digital digital signal out of market... (no law exists in this regards)

Unless there was a law passed some time in the last 6 months (and there wasnt) The DTV swich helped satellite proivders as they can provide a digital signal without worry or legal action to anybody they want.

Nice. I bet NY Locals are nice too. But I don't live in those areas. And D* is the last place one goes in my area for local channels.

Does this mean that come football season, I can ask D* for the Columbus HD channels and expect to get them ?
From old rules, they would be in the same spotbeam.

Would this fall under the "Significantly Viewed" rumors that swirled around awhile back ?

Significantly viewed channels aren't provided in hd, unfortunately.

really ? You would have thought that they would ...
What about the rest of my statement, any thoughts about getting them ?

We used to get WNBC in hd, but that was because WVIT in Hartford is an O&O station.
