Distant HD locals

What do you have to do to get them?

My Best friend has had them forever and DTV just shut them off...

The only way to get them is to live in an area where you can't get your own local channels from Directv in SD and then the same for the HD versions. Or if you live in an area not served at all you can ask for them.

Or you could "MOVE" to Los Angeles or New York City and get 1 or the other. Like I did.
