So the Fox website announced it and Dish employees got an email that it was back, and then it isn't. Now this is interesting...

I didn't get the email. I don't know how well-connected Chad's friends are (possible more connected than me), and who the email came from, but I didn't get one. It could have been a false start, but I would think it's a good sign.

I've been asleep, no idea if an agreement was close or not. I logged into my company email, and nothing there. A few things...

I do know the approximate cost that Dish uses to acquire a new customer, and I'm not telling that here. Nope.

I don't know how many have left Dish over this, but I feel comfortable saying that 90,000 is a wild over-estimate. I have access to see how many accounts were tagged with the issue when they called in. That number isn't even 100% accurate, due to incompetent offshore agents who can't do simply things like tag the account. I know we've had more people call us about this, than the CNN issue (I doubt that is a shock), but it's closer than you'd probably think.

Is Dish handing out credits, and losing a few subscribers? Yes. Is Dish not having to pay for Fox News and Fox Business during the dispute? Yep...so there are costs, and there are savings. I can feel pretty certain that our corporate offices are watching the pennies carefully, and are aware of the losses, and when/if they feel they're too much, they'd cut a deal.

I was listening to a Fox syndicated talk radio show the other night (John Gibson), and they run ads (they're usually overlaid by local ads, I think), and it said that (paraphrased) "Hey, Dish customers, Dish is trying to censor Fox News. They don't want you to hear the truth". I'm not going to argue politics on this (please, folks...let's not get the thread shut down), but it does reek of desperation by Fox to take that angle...they know it's business. and not politics.

Very nice insight, well said.

I also saw the Fox News page announce that a deal was reached. As for the email, it could have been recalled after it went out, and if you didn't open it before it was recalled, you wouldn't even see it.

I'd be careful citing anything from your Dish system, even if it is your own opinion applied to those facts. Internal company information is confidential data.

Or maybe it was a dream? Nightmare? Fantasy? It's clearly not working on my TV now and the webpage from Fox is still the same.

I wish I would have done a screen capture of that page when it said that an agreement had been reached and posted it. That was the only thing that came up when you went to the keepfoxnews.com web site. Not sure what this means, but I was just on the foxnews.com web site and saw no Dish dropped FOX, switch now" ads. I wonder if maybe the keepfoxnews.com web site was hacked last night? Oh well, guess the drama continues.

I checked and I still was at the site on my iPad when I looked at it last night and so the image was still there.

I still had the webpage saved in my cache - when I right clicked on the image files to see where they were being pulled from, I can see they still are on the keep fox news site. Here are the links to the images:

Refreshing though does bring up the "Dish is Censoring your news" images. So it appears the images saying a deal has been reached are there ready to be used when an announcement is reached.

I called Dish and said I wanted to cancel at the end of my current month because I had a package that included Fox News and it wasn't being provided. At first I was offered $50 and then it was upped to $120. Since I can listen to Fox News on XM, I thought I'd stay with them for another month. Dish had a dispute with my local ABC affiliate and it lasted 6 months. So when Charlie plays poker, he's a very slow player.

In the long run, broadband cable has the edge, but content providers will make more direct ala cart deals. Fox knows that and so does Dish.

I went to dishstandsforyou.com a few days ago and filled out the complaint form. Last night, I saw that HBO, Showtime, TMC, Cinemax and Starz were all open (I don't subscribe to any of them). Is this a free preview, or is this Dish's gift to me in lieu of a credit? Anybody else have this happen?

HBO etc is a free preview. It took me about a week before I got an email with a credit. Not everyone has gotten a credit.

I went to thew dish stands by you website a couple of weeks ago and politely let then know I was unhappy with losing the Fox channels and hoped they and Fox could settle up in a reasonable amount of time and wouldn't force me to seek alternatives and left it at that .

Couple of days ago I got an e mail and one time $50.00 bill credit don't know how widespread that is but it's something anyway.
Other than that Dish isn't any worse or remarkably better than DTV IMO and better than Comcast . I've had all 3 so I'm hoping they settle with Fox.

I'm not taking sides in the dispute not being privy to the inside details there may be legitimate issues on both sides for all I know . OTOH Fox or Dish are not exactly benevolent entities .
