OK, moved out of my house for our renovation... Called up to put the account on hold until the job is complete. Was told that I could pause for 6 months.

A bonus was that when it came time to rehook up my service, that the DishMover program would cover me, even though I didn't go anywhere.... Sweet! I've got 5 receivers active, so that will be a big deal for me. Might even get some upgraded dishes out of the deal (A Dish 500 looking at 110/119 and a 300 looking at 61.5, plus 2 SW64s feeding all the receivers.... a 622, a 921, a 510, and 2 501s.... Hopefully they will have some sort of swap plan for the 921 as well..... I don't think I am in the swap deal just announced since I already switched to the $20 HD plan when I got the 622).

I still watch Dish as my parents have a subscription (as we moved in with them... yeah, I know.. LOSER!!! - but my Scottish blood found the savings too compelling and the kids get to spend extra time with the grandparents), so I'll be watching closely to see what changes over the next few months.....

I had put my account on "pause" when I moved in November of 2005. When I moved, I could not get a LOS. Dish tried to get a signal but was unable to see the birds due to trees/buildings.

I ended up being on "pause" for about a year. They never said anything about a maximum time frame. I just got tired of paying $5 per month for nothing.

LOS won't be a problem..... My single story was able to see both 110/119 and 61.5, so I'm fairly certain that moving it up to a second story will be just as easy....

Since everyone was nice and cordial..

Loser, do you have to be home at certain time now? Will mommy check your pants pockets before she does the laundry.

Just kidding, glad the pause worked out.

Ouch.

OK, I know I deserve that.

Funny thing is, I don't feel like one... my wife and mother seem to be trying to outclean the other. Instead of the once a week deal we used to do together, clothes show up clean 2 days later. My wife is cooking like crazy trying to be appreciative, so we are getting home cooked dinner every night.

The parents let me take over their garage (which has vinyl tile floors, a large ceiling fan, and a great breeze coming from the door that leads to the backyard and the lagoon) and move in my 57" RPTV which I hooked up the 360, the Wii, and my 7.1 surround system and speakers. We call it "The Lounge".

Meanwhile while we burn through money on the renovation we are saving.... $65 a month on the Cablevision Optimum Online Boost Broadband bill (30MB downstream speed), $200 a month on the Dish Bill, a $400 drop in the electricity bill in the summer, a $50 drop in the gas bill, a $2000 drop in pool upkeep since we didn't open it this year (and with them having a hto tub and the lagoon, the kids can swim and/or soak all they want), a $60 drop in the phone bill (we had two lines... we dropped to one at minimum levels), and our grocery bill has fallen by half (my Mom stocks her place so well, we haven't needed to buy as much). Even babysitting fees are gone since they have been offering to watch the kids when we go out for any engagements or shopping trips to pick out renovation items.

With those kind of savings, I'll accept any insults you want to hurl...... ;)

Keep mommy happy. You have one sweet deal. Probably because she has greater access to the grandkids, but ride that train!

Ouch.

Wow, fantastic family atmosphere. :up

Wow, E* pooched it again.....

I notice that E* is planning on billing me the full amount this month (um, I thought you guys already billed me a month in advance, I'm due a credit, not a bill....)

Then the zinger.....

Instead of putting me on DishPause on 6/25 like they were supposed to.... the computer and the billing dept. did ..... zilch.

It seems that I had three months left on my commitment from my 622 swap last year. Sooooo, the system just ignored my DishPause status. No call, no nothing.

Good news is that I called today to strighten things out and they credited me the money I paid from then until today. They set me on the Family Plan for $19.99 until my three months are up. They also left my $5.99 warranty in place, but deactivated my other receivers so I didn't get charged fees on those (or DVR fees). I still have the $6 DVR fee. Oh well, I'm leaving the warranty in place in case I have trouble with any boxes after they have been sitting for three months....

The moral?: Be careful when DishPause-ing when commitments are in place......
