only $19.99 per month, DishMEXICO subscribers may enjoy more than 50 Spanish-language channels that cater to Mexican culture and interests, with a wide variety of content such as sports, news, movies, music, and children’s programming.

With the option to receive local network programming (where available) and Playboy en Español at no additional charge, DishMEXICO may be a great entry-level package for customers looking for high-quality, Spanish-language programming at an economical price. The diverse channel lineup features popular networks such as Azteca America, Galavision, TeleFormula, and Telefutura.

DishMEXICO may also be selected as an add-on package for accounts with a qualifying International programming package.​

(Note from Scott... the release says that the new DishMEXICO is going to be coming from the 110 degree orbital location... I don't know if this is a mistake or not as I was under the impression that this was coming from the 77 degree orbital location.)

Dish is afraid to continue loosing customers to DirecTV and cable providers and they need to stop that Tsunami. The true is DirecTv has the channels that Dish drop it like TVChile, Centroamerica and GolTV(which some americans like it too). The DishMexico a good idea but don't forget the rest of the spanish countries like Venezuela, Argentina, Chile, Puerto Rico which they are missing TV Venezuela, Infinito, Tv Chile, and WapaAmerica. Those are very popular channels and Dish is missing them.

What Scott was referring to is the 77W Mexican controlled slot using Echostar 8.. Echostar 8 has two beams one for Mexico and the other a near Conus US beam. The Mexican beam is named DishMexico. It will be providing sevice to Mexico for a new satellite service that will be competing with Sky Mexico. The Dish Mexico beam also can be received in the southern regions of the US and Dish has FCC authorization for a large number of US receivers to receive a package from that beam.

Recently the Mexican providers found that they had problem in that they had not gotten their (in country) partnerships approved by the Mexican FCC (Cofetel). That may be delaying the public launch of the new service in Mexico. Dish's involvement in the deal is somewhat vague with talk of MVS and Telmex being the principle players.

Playboy en Español has always been available for free if you subscribe to DishLatino.

Couldn't have said it better. What about DishLatino? Are they going to improve it? Because Directv is kicking their butt with the Latino packages.

I agree. Directv has more channels in spanish than Dish. I wonder if Dish will add more spanish channels? I wonder if they will add Once TV, Mexico 22, and Azteca Mexico? Hmmm. This whole thing is weird.

As far as Azteca Mexico goes, that's a Directv exclusive, there's no way we are going to see it on Dish Network. I do hope they add Once TV and Mexico 22, apparently Directv offers Once Tv in Hd.

There is a little war developing in this area, with Sky Mexico, Azteca, Televisa, Dish, Telmex and MVS involved.

The Mexican business press reports that the new satellite sevice for Mexico is ready to go with a startup package of 25-35 channels for something like $18/month. MVS is the program packager and has 700,000 customers they can switch to the new system. Telmex to provide marketing, billing, collection.
Dish is a partner of some type.

The TV cartel in Mexico has been circling the wagons and guarding their retransmission rights for anything they control ( they don't want to help the competition). Telmex can be a fierce competitor in the long run because it is a financial powerhouse, is hot to get into triple play and has been controlling their markets by pushing the latest technogies countrywide ( fiber optic, G3, etc). Now, the existing providers see Telmex/MVS doing business with Dish. And, Mexico, unlike Canada, has a detailed agreement with the US covering DBS TV. It allows either country to transmit programming into the other with minimal restrictions (some provisions for public broadcasting set asides, controlling porn, etc).

I thought Azteca Mexico was a Directv exclusive. Mexicanal is also a Directv exclusive, isn't it? We have Directv in the entire house and my room is the only one with Dish. My sister has the HD channels but I've never seen Once TV in HD. I've seen it listed on their website but haven't seen it. :/

The whole thing sounds interesting but a little confusing to me. I hope it all gets sorted out soon. It would be cool if I would be able to get some cable channels from Mexico. I really wish I had the channel called TL Novelas.

Yeah, that's exactly were I saw the Once Tv in Hd, in the Directv Website. I too wish they add the TL Novela channel, I know its available on IO Digital Cable, I hope dish adds it.

Well, considering DTV has exclusive rights to NFL-ST and Dish has chosen not to carry MLB-EI so my guess would be that no you won't be seeing it any time soon...
