I just realized the reps name was RAINDEER.

A few months back it was "Shamu", I kid you not.

Do people get to pick made up names or something to mask their identity?

The philipino reps can change their name for purposes of you just pronounce their real names. I remember getting transfers from "yellow in orange". Orange is one of the philipino call centers and she named herself yellow. Lol.
