I read somewhere that a Wally can act as a DVR when an external drive is connected via USB. Does Dish charge extra if someone uses a Wally as a DVR?

Note: I do understand that the Wally would not be able to view other channels as it records, like a Hopper.

There is a one time $40 charge to activate. The Wally actually has 2 tuners so it is possible to watch one channel and record another.

If I remember correctly all you need is the EHD activated and software that came into being two years back.

I’ll hang onto my Hopper Duo until the $5/month DVR offer is done in almost 2 years. Was curious about the Wally and it’s costs.

NYDutch. I have a DPP switch that works with the Hopper Duo. I have a feeling that would allow the Wally’s second tuner to be activated.
