I'm a big fan of the Tailgater. I've read some reviews where people had trouble setting it up or getting locals, but when I've seen it in action, it always works flawlessly. The single coax run is a big plus too.

Here is a hypothetical question...

My question: I travel to Mexico and Canada for part of the year and want to know: If I select the closest US state, as long as I am relatively close by (an hour or two from the border), will the Tailgater lock on properly? I know the GM-1518 works perfectly on-the-road and across the border(s), but how does the Tailgater fare? Does it just timeout or keep on scanning? Anyone with experience?

Thanks a bunch and Merry Christmas Satelliteguys! I am a longtime (multi-year!) lurker and this is my first post.

Hi and :welcometo Sat Guys. The Tailgater can be used when traveling and will work in these locations as long as there is line of site to the satellites. We do not allow our services to be sold in Canada or Mexico but you can travel with them. Hope this helps!

Thank you for your answer maryb, and the warm welcome! When I am traveling, do I enter the closest state on the setup screen? Or will the software eventually start scanning after a few minutes? Thanks again! :)
