Hi guys...! Any new news on this?

Hopefully asap dish ensures his signal... I want to see if this will influence the prices of FTA equipment.

How long should I wait?

If they do.....You will get bottom of the basement bargains on fleabay.
a long time ago i seen Fortec Ultra's going for 30 dollars shipped.

Maybe they are getting close, I got my card for my 622 Saturday. I thought they had forgotten about me. Since I think I'm usually one of the last ones, they must be close?

They still haven't sent me new cards for my Dish 501 and 508.

I'm thinking that they might be waiting until the outcome of the patent lawsuit with Tivo -- the 501 and 508 receivers are both listed in the suit as 'infringing'. The newer 622, 722 etc. receivers are not. If they have to disable my receivers soon they dont want to waste money sending me new cards.

Right now the receiver I'm looking for is a Coolsat 8100 HD. There aren't many on eBay. I hope they complete the card swap so I can get one cheap!

According to the sewer reports the International channels have converted to the new encryption only...so they whining :D

unless I'm missing something the Coolsat 8100 can't get any HD that the stealers want. Dish is 8PSK Turbo and the 8100 cant get those and Bell is already on their new encryption.

I guess the price of 8100's wont be going down very much. :(

They're about $200 now, used. Hard to see them going way down ! Fact of the matter is, there is not a really great HD box out there right now. The 8100 HD is arguably as good as we can get right now. My CS8000 is something of a treat.
:(

eurosport84 has a CS 8000, DK_Sat has new cards and I've still got neither. No joy for me. :(

Seriously, I'm sure I'll get my cards soon before the switch goes into effect. And I expect to have my CS 8100 next week. Looking forward to getting get NBC HD in all the time zones and many news feeds.

Brother Glen4Cindy sent me a note that Dish's famous "Pirate TV" channel is back but this time its in the clear (the original was scrambled)

61.5 (havent checked other sats but its probably there too)

the channel is pretty funny. It tries to convince the stealers to become legit.

The only thing I dont like about it being FTA (the channel) is at the beginning the guy says "If you are watching this channel that means your receiver has been modified to receiver Dish Network programming illegally"

uh...if you make the channel FTA it aint stealing ;)

if it's in the clear, is it not available to subscribers' receivers? or do they have a method to hide it from legitimate subscribers while having it FTA at the same time? I don't have a DBS dish/LNB on my FTA receiver, but I'm planning to add one for NASA. It'll be interesting to get that channel too :)

yep they can do that. The Dish receivers they can block specific channels. As an example, a while back Dish had the mono & CD music channels FTA but on a Dish receiver they were only there if you subscribed.

Also the DVR promo channel on 110 Dish receives cant see(if you have a Dish DVR it downloads into the hard drive)

AMC7 (137W) has 4 NASA channels. And you dont need a circular LNB, just a linear C-Band one. Comes in strong in California. Might be a little low on the horizon from Alabama though.

I don't have a C-Band dish right now. Long term I plan on adding one, but I've got two 18" dishes and LNBs in the basement right now that I could add to the system with no more investment than a switch.

Garrr!

This is sad. "Did you know you're a satellite pirate?", the spokeman asks on an *in the clear* channel.

I guess they shutdown enough people that they can't get the message out while it is encrypted! That's cool, now shut the rest off and let me find some cheap HD equipment. ;)
