Dish Player 625 Question

well i havea dish player 625, i noticed that it has a USB slot.. so i was wondering if i could connect my laptop to the TV thru the USB slot and watch movies from my laptop in my tv.. or alternatively, use a USB drive to convert the movies to mpeg 2 format (so that the DVR can read it) and watch movies that way?? anu sugegstions?? can it be possible to do either one of the things above?

You will not be able to it with the usb slot on that 625. You will have to get an external capture device to plug into the usb port of your laptop and connect the receiver up to that capture device through the coax, RCA, or S-Video cables. This is how I do mine.

I paid $199 for mine at Circuit City. It is a Hauppage WinTv. I HATE!!!!!!! the software. I emphasize that. I had some issues with it but thankfully they gave me some support through email which solved the problem. If you unhook it after you had it installed then want to hook it back up then you have to do something over again but its been a while since I hooked mine up so I forgot what that was.
