Dish pass, new event DVr never works...

HI folks,
My daughter watches icarly on nick, i have tried unsuccessfully for months now to set up a proper timer for this show,i have about 20 timers for other shows that work great,but for this show i have tried setting up DVR to record only new shows,and i have tried dish pass to record only new epsiodes,as soon as i set it up i have tiners set for every single episode dated 090807 as original air date, all i want is the 1 new weekly episode,which i have now set up to record once weekly on saturday night,but sometimes they premier a new show on friday night,

if i use the above all new timers i end up with 20-30 shows recorded in a week.


does anyone know why this will not work?

the problem is how data is entered in for the show. when there isn't a episode number, your dvr records them to be sure you don't miss one because it doesn't know whether it is new or old or what.
the solution lies with Nick and Tribune(who does the guide data) getting the proper data entered for that show. By the way this is true of any show that doesn't have specefic episode data.

I have this problem too,I only want New "Simpsons" Two half Men" but DVR records every episode.If you dont know this already ,instead of deleting individual episodes one by one you can go to edit and mark all to erase at once(just make sure you dont delete a new episode).I do a major House cleaning on my DVR once a week this way ,to make room for new stuff. I wish Dish would figure out a better system,but at least theres a way to delete the shows you dont want quickly.

thats funny for the Simpsons,i have a timer set for them too,and it always works for me,i only ever get one epsiode sundays nights.. wonder why it doesnt work for you?

If the events are not "protected", then the DVR will erase them automatically to make room for new recordings.
