Dish Network site down?

Is anyone else having trouble getting on the Dish website? I guess they are getting pounded with calls today regarding the free 622 HD DVR. Let me know if I am the only one.

It just worked for me but to my dismay I am being screwed because I did the Dish'n it up in November. What a bunch of crap I am still paying them $149 isn't that enough? Any ideas out there? I guess I could send in an email.

How funny is it we look to SatelliteGuys if Disnetwork is down. Thanks for the info everyone, It currently is not letting me log in to my account, it is kinda up.

I love how Dish Network skirts the HD-Lite issue in their Dish vs. Cable comparison:

"Rumor 4 - Cable offers the best high-definition (HD) programming and services."

Dish Network now has 30 national HD channels - that's twice as many as any other TV provider, including cable.

Ummm. They mention "best HD programming" yet they toss in their numbers of HD-Lite channels.

"Rumor #5 - Cable gives its customers the best picture quality around."

Dish Network offers 100% digital quality on every channel, all of the time. Cable can't say that

Cable companies who have switched to digital simulcasting can. The same cannot be said of their HD channels since every cable system I have seen is on-par or often much better than DishHD-Lite.

Their site is currently having some serious issues. As someone who makes a living managing websites for a Fortune 500 company, I've always been appalled at how bad a job Dish does with their website. Problems like this are all too common from what I've experienced. Ironically, it seems that Dish does put a lot of money and effort into their website, but not much thought, apparently. They probably outsource most of the work, which explains the hodge-podge of systems they have running behind their site, and their slow response in fixing problems.

I tried to login to pay my bill early last evening (around 6:30PM CST). The main site loaded fine, but as soon as I tried to go to my account, it would lock up. Sometimes I would get an Apache server error. I noticed the main page has changed a little tonight, but I still can't get to the account page. Oh well... I guess Charlie has enough money, he doesn't need more of mine!
