Dish just changed the DC local WETA to WETA HD last week
Well, the is not the correct channel that is why the guide is wrong during the day.
The correct channel should be WETA TV 26. That is the main WETA channel and it is in HD too. It is what I had on Comcast.

Tried calling tech support. They are useless.
First one sounded like a Indian woman. Hung up. Could barely understand her.
Second call Anthony claimed that they don't carry PBS in HD.

I completely disagree with you on all points. WETA HD is in fact the main WETA channel, broadcast on 26.1 in HD. WETA 26 is on subchannel 26.4 and (last time I checked) almost always mirrored the main channel in SD. If they now have two HD channels... We have a problem with WETA, not with Dish!

Now, if you mean they've stopped mirroring the main channel on WETA 26, or broadcast widescreen material in the proper aspect ratio on WETA 26, then GOOD. IMHO it makes no more sense to broadcast an SD mirror of an HD channel in this day and age, any more than it does to broadcast widescreen material LETTERBOXED on an SD channel. Everybody with an ATSC tuner can already tune to all (18?) modes, including the combination of widescreen on an SD subchannel. Letterboxing widescreen material for an SD channel is just plain wrong.

I had 26.4 on Comcast and it was in real HD. It is the main channel in HD for WETA. Look at the guide now. Shows cartoons playing. But they are not. I used to play and record those HD cartoons for my kid.
PBS HD only shows the prime time shows all day. "Primetime programs in high definition, 24 hours a day"

Edit: I was wrong there. It wasn't WETA. It was MPT

Try contacting the station engineer if you think the wrong channel is being uplinked. They definitely have control of what is being sent to DISH.

I think I am wrong. I was recording channel 12 on CC. I forget what PBS station that is.
Going to call WETA and see if they do broadcast 26.4 in HD

Sheet. 26.4 is in sd only

When I called they said that Dish didn't even tell them that they were switching to WETA HD.

The PBS I was recording on CC was MPT.

26.4 is in sd only.

Right. In your defense, the channel guide, the link to which you posted in your OP, inexplicably calls the WETA 26 SD subchannel their "flagship". Oh really?

That is not to say that the guide isn't messed up too. Are we still having issues with that? I haven't noticed, but I only record off WETA HD anyhoo. Channel 22 is WMPT out of Annapolis. (I thought they were in Baltimore!)

The guide is wrong from 5AM until 12 noon.

Oh yeah Annaplolis. That is not far from here. Could probably get it with a cheap antenna.

Just for grins, I recorded WETA TV 26 (subchannel 4) this morning, which was playing an episode of Nature. Letterboxed SD with overall 704X480 resolution, 2 audio streams both AC-3 and two text streams. I really HATE when stations do this since it results in a picture-framed program on widescreen sets. If they have a widescreen program, why letterbox it at all and ruin it's presentation like this? Is there any ATSC tuner that can't automatically letterbox widescreen material on an SD set?
