I currently have a 622 and a 922 at the house. Now that the daughter has gone off to college we really don't need the 622 in the house. I have my workshop about 100 to 125 feet from the house I would like to put the 622 in. I also have an old Dish500 with LNBs laying around. Would there be any problems with hooking up the 622 to the Dish500 at the workshop? Or do the recievers need to be connected to the same sat dish? Currently the 922 calls home via broadband and since I do have phone in the shop the 622 could still use the phone to call in. Thanks.

It'll work, but you will only get a few HD channels with just a single D500.

If the TV in the workshop is just a SD TV, then that probably wouldn't matter to you.

Yep, it will work.... you won't get all your HD programming though... the majority comes from a third satellite, which a Dish 500 will not see.

Your other option is to run cable to your workshop from your existing Dish... 100-150 feet will work just fine if you use new, quality RG-6 (i.e. not Radio Shack brand)

Not worried about HD channels since I will only be using an SD TV in there. And running coax not really an option. Between boulders and concrete it would be a tough line to bury. LOL Thank you for the info. I was worried that since the2 recievers wouldn't be hooked to the same dish, they would have issues. I don't know if the recievers need to communicate with each other.

Nope, not at all.... people take a receiver from their home and bring it with them on their 5th wheels all the time.
