Just so I can post my 2 cents worth after Scott closed the original thread. I believe the only way around this is to have the receivers phone home every 30 days or so. If the IRD and smart card number are not in the data bank then the receiver self destructs from a command sent by the phone line connection. No phone, no service. Voom was headed this way before the demise. Total control from ordering to issuing equipment and installation.
