Dish getting pricey

NOT!

Dish America with 2 free HD DVRs for $26 per month, including all taxes and fees. That's up from $17 per month, but still not pricey.

What would really be sweet is if Dish started trying to keep the customers they already have by giving us a special deal. Start taking care of your current customers and you'll start gaining new ones in droves. Premiums for a discount price for 3 months or so is nice but it's not a deciding factor on new customers I don't think. Give us a good deal and we'll talk you up to our neighbors instead of complaining about you.

You can't operate at a loss for long before you can't operate at all...... The point of business is to make money.

Your "special deal" is everyone's "special deal" America's Everything Package for $99.99.Remember E* dropped the price by almost $3..:)

A lot of people do. I honestly could care less about BBCA-HD. Who gives a rats ass about the SOAP channel, RFDTV, EWTN, BabyFirst..... The answer is that plenty of people do. Not as many as channels like ESPN or Discovery but people do watch them. If no one watched them they wouldn't be on TV.

You just seem to be posting your own opinion, in which case, why do people care what you think? Everyone has a right to their own favorite channels. I myself think the EPIC channels were a great addition for Dish.

Another member of the "DISH Brigade" chirps.

I feel your pain as do a lot of us... this is why all the unhappy DISH posts recently. (And its the only reason those posts were not moved to the War Zone forum)

I myself had to drop a bunch of programming from my account including all premiums just because of the equipment price increase.

I got to be honest, this is the closest I have come to signing back up for DIRECTV again.

Scott, it's a shame that prices can't be like back in the C band heydays with ala carte and such. We had really good pricing going. Cable always wanted to nickel and dime you to death. Then pizza jumped on the bandwagon. Now it's out of control. One of the reasons I ordered DirecTv was they offered me the most bang, and channels I wanted for the buck, at least for the first year. My plans originally were to try to get a receiver I had authorized so I wouldn't get into a contract. That ran into all kind of snags. I did end up leasing and have that stupid 2 year contract (which is a total joke) My plans are to downgrade my services the second year.

Both LSD services could really benefit by trying to follow the old C band plan of ala-cart at decent prices especially in these bad economic times. But they have the upper hand and what it really boils down to is, if you want to play you have to pay. And pay we do dearly. I never had to get a second mortgage when I subscribed with c band.

Late to the game but noticed my bill has went up and looked into it. I have two Hd622s and they are now charging me $17 for the second one. That is total BS. Looking into other options.

Not to take up for the pizza dish providers, (I can remember the good ole' days of C-Band myself) but a lot of the reason that they are not able to offer a-la-carte is due to the fact that the programmer will not allow it. Not that they would want to any way.

thats why i cancelled E the 17 buck fee is just insane. I own my extra receivers and never got or asked for a free upgrade anything. E was a combo of TV and a hobby:(

Any business that raises anything that much is sending a clear message we dont want you as a customer.......

Not only cheap, but as they say: "The best things in life (and TV) are free".

I could easily settle for OTA only since it's still the bulk of my viewing, as it is with the majority.

How many would drop cable and/or satellite in a heartbeat at these current prices if they couldn't get the major (free) networks through them?

its why I switched to D*, the equipment fees on E are too much to handle. I have 5 HD DVR's and all channels and pay less than when I had 3 HD DVR's with E and all channels. :(

No if you had the aep they waived the dvr fee that is why i have it
also directs includes the sports pack dish does not.

Both Dish and DirecTV use to wave the DVR fee, that's water under the bridge now as both charge for it now with their top packages.

Yes DirecTV's Premiere package includes their Sports package but you cannot separate the DirecTV Sports package from the Premiere package so you have to pay $114.99 a month for Premiere.
With Dish's America's Everything package you can add Dish's Sports package(includes NFL Red Zone) for $7. a month for a total of $106.99 or without the Sports package for $99.99.:)

We've picked use OTA, a Roku box, Netflix, and use an older computer as a DVR. The wife just gave the go ahead to drop the Dish Network. They said, "Why pay more?" and we asked ourselves that very question. Why should we pay more? It isn't worth it to us anymore to have hiked up fees and price spikes after ol Charlie has supposedly been 'fighting for us.'
