Dish Flying high

Not that big of deal. Channels are free, but movies will cost you $4.99. Also, their Wi-fi not enough to use Dishanywhere. Flew to Ft. Meyers last Wednesday. Just ended up watching what I had transferred to iPad.

One thing I found is that the live TV only works on Apple Devices, everyone with Android devices could not get it to work.

When I was at CES I asked DISH why this way and if they were going to fix it. I was told that the TV service is NOT DISH and they have no control over it. They just sponsor it so that the TV portion is FREE. But what your watching is NOT DISH.

I only have Android devices. I have been using the service with no problems. I was able to watch a Patriots game recently on my way home. And it is definitely DISH channels. As I said, I could see many people using the service on my flights.

Wifi for other uses has nothing to do with what DISH is offering that is a separate issue. It does work great for DISH channels, and also works for my Slingbox though the DISH channels are clearer. That's the beauty of DISH having channels, they are clear over the Wifi.

On the two planes I was on last week for CES that had live TV no one could get it working on Android. Some of them were actually mad at DISH. But again DISH has no control, they are just sponsoring it.

That seems to be a risky gamble. Dish is sponsoring something that people think they are in charge of. Airplane Wifi service is iffy to start with. Last thing you'd want is someone thinking your service sucks when all you are doing is sponsoring it so it will be at no extra cost.

They do it with the Tailgater. lol

That is one of the things they were concerned about. I know the renewal was coming up and it was one of the questions they were asking themselves. They also were wondering if they were getting enough exposure in doing the deal. Again its just a advertising deal. Because of the issues with the service it is a risk.

I guess we can go back and forth on this all day. From my actual use on my actual android tablet and phone, on many actual flights, it has worked perfectly, with very clear picture quality. The use is up 20% though I don't know from what. Since SW carries more passengers in the U.S. than any airline somewhere around 1.5 million, I would say that is good exposure for DISH. I seriously doubt DISH would continue to fund it if they were getting negative feedback. SW monitors every thing they do to see public acceptance. SW would end it if they felt it was more problems than it is was worth.
