Dish Downgrade Options

A friend of mine is about to be out of his contract and wants to go back to cable for more local HD options.

With that in mind, he doesn't want to become a "former" E* customer because of how damned punitive they are to return.

He currently has a 625 and 311. Can he return just the 311, and lower the 625 to only local channels?

Is he leasing these receivers? He has to keep minimum pak, if he's leasing. I'm not sure whether it's top 60 or the family pak. He can return the 311.

1. Is the 311 leased? since when?

2. Is the 625 leased? since when?

3. When did he become a customer? Did he get the "free" install and sign on for a min 18 months?

That is half the answer, now is he under DHA lease plan? From the equipment and time frame he probably is so the $19.99 Family Pak would be the cheapest qualifying package plus a $5.98 DVR fee plus a $5 second receiver fee if the 625 isn't plugged into a phone line plus $5 for local channels if he wants them.
