Ok going through my building I've got dishes people have given me for dishnetwork. Ones the new black hd dish with east arc lnb I got 2 dish 1000 ones a 1000 ones a 1000.2 . What's the difference is one better than other. The dish 1000 have west arc lnb. And I believe the black dish is a 100.4 what's the difference between 1000 1000.2 and 1000.4

The first thing is which arc are you going to be using?

If the EA then you use the 1000.4 assuming it has the EA head.

If you are going to use the WA, then it is the 1000 or the 1000.2. Both are basically the same reflector with a different head assembly. Given that, the 1000.2 is newer.

I also read that the 1000.4 black dish could be used for wa if I had the wa head and signal would be better on the 1000.4 is this true about the signal being better on 1000.4

The 1000 and the 1000.2 are not close to the same. The 1000 reflector is actually smaller in area than a dish 500 reflector. the 1000.2 is quite a bit larger. To answer the OP's last question, I would opt to use a 1000.4 with a WA lnbf. It has the fine tuning hardware on the polar plate and a slightly larger reflector than a 1000.2

It's not a polar mount. It is an AZ/EL (azimuth /elevation) mount. Use the 1000.4 w/ the correct LNBF assembly for the arc you live in.

The D1000 is a tiny bit than a D500.

I have one of each mounted side-by-side on my roof.

When I get home, I'll hop up there and enter the measurements right here

WELL Actually the 500 and the 1000 are very close to the SAME size, assuming both are ellipses (which the 1000 is not, the 500 (22 hX20.5 w)calculates out slightly larger than the 1000, but the 1000 (23 W X 18 h) is more of a rounded rectangle. My quick geometry estimates the D1000 at 360 sq in and the D500 at 355 sq in.

I have one of each and the differences in the reflector are minor and neither is darn sure not smaller than a 500.

1000.4 is a larger reflector than any of them, and the fine tune adjustment on the back of the dish makes it easier to peak once you get that beast on the mount.

Love my Hopper but one question

We all live on farms or ranches ?
