Other than a streaming service, there isn't any other choice. What are the other options for RSNs if a person chooses to keep Dish but needs RSNs? (For me that will simply will make Dish that much more expensive.)

Yea, we'll see. I'll believe all the pie in the sky claims when I see them. I've heard the same things before from Viasat and Hughesnet.
I also suspect that a decent number of Americans will decide that streaming basically sucks compared to their DVR's as the streaming prices go up and up among other things.
Amazon Prime coming to the Hopper.
HBO can be streamed through Amazon Prime for $15.00/month.
HBO on Dish was $15.00/month
So, HBO back on the Hopper
You get it?
And yet all the actual hard data so far completely contradicts what you suspect...
We shall see...

It was from a data uplink spotted on James Long's uplink activity site:This is the first I've heard of the Prime Video app coming to the Hopper. When is this supposed to happen? Has it been officially announced or is this a rumor/leak?

Very interesting. Adding the Prime Video app to the Hopper would be a nice feature, especially for DISH customers looking for a way to access HBO without switching inputs to a different streaming device. But at the same time, Amazon also sells subscriptions through that app for Showtime, Starz and Epix, all of which DISH sells too. Seems like a somewhat risky move on DISH's part because adding that app will likely reduce their own number of subscribers to those three premium services. Amazon sells Showtime for $11/mo, Starz for $9/mo and Epix for $6/mo. Looks like DISH is currently selling Showtime at a "special price" of $10/mo, Starz at $10/mo, and Epix at $7/mo.
The Amazon app may not support the Amazon channels, similar to the way it works on a Tivo.
Yeah, it's possible that the app could be gimped in that way. Pretty sure that will also be the case with the Hulu app that will soon show up on Comcast's X1 TV boxes. (But are you sure that the Prime Video app for TiVo doesn't support Amazon Channels? I thought it did...)
I’m not even sure DISH even cares about ATT/Direct...
AT&T keeps having these constant rate hikes, they will have a lot less customers...Dish can just wait it out...Exactly. Why should they bother to buy the DirecTV satellite customers when they'll probably end up with most of them sooner or later anyway.
