How does one go about getting digital subchannels on Direct?

With the Dish 722k one can install a OTA box ($50) in the back of the unit and it allows one to get the extra subchannels which in Houston adds up to like 55 or something extra ones, most a waste of space but I digress.

This is a big selling point to me and with my contract up soon and Directv not offering one of our major independents KTBU-55 I was wondering if you all would give me some input on this matter.

Also, does Directv offer Family Net? I thought they did once but now I don't see it when I go to view the lineups on their site.

I thank you for your time.

You can add the AM21 OTA tuner to the receivers to allow reception of those channels not offered by DirecTV.
This unit uses your zipcode to determine what channels can be received.
However, this database needs to be accurate.
The guide data for the channels is integrated into the DirecTV guide.

Be advised that the AM21 doesn't scan for available channels, it only gives you what is in the database, which doesn't get updated all that often in all areas. I'm not home so I can't check, but maybe someone can check their AM21 to see what channels are available in the Houston area.
