Got this email tonight. They seem to have added some kind of sports add-on to my Welcome Pack. Anybody else get this? It didn’t change my monthly rate.
Directv did the same thing to me last year when I had their Select package, gradually adding regional sports networks and other channels to it, one at a time, for no additional cost. It looks like Dish is copying their idea. Both providers must be desperate to keep subscribers, adding sports channels to such low-tier packages. I had cancelled my Directv service and came back, before I started getting their no-cost add-ons without asking for them. I remember that you had called Dish to cancel your service earlier this year. So, even though you did not go through with that, and downgraded instead, the same principle probably applies. Thanks
Seriously though, I’m not sure why I’m getting these perks. I didn’t call and ask for an Appreciation Pack; I don’t even know what it is

Sounds reasonable. As far as I can tell, the only channels they actually added are Sundance (unless that's a current freeview) and my RSN's. The RSN's are a nice (and surprising) addition. The offer doesn't say how long it lasts. I'm almost afraid to ask, in case it's some kind of accident.
I like how it says CSN Chicago, even though that was re-branded almost a year ago! If you can get your RSN for less than $25 a month, for those that intently follow their regional team, that would be an incredible deal.
NBC Sports Chicago (NBSCH) channel 412-19What is CSN Chicago supposed to be called? It does show up as CSN Chicago in my guide, also

I checked the guide again. I was mistaken; it does say NBC Sports Chicago. Only the email they sent last night said CSN Chicago.
Like I said, Dish is copying Directv's model. Last year, Directv gave me one or maybe two additional channels per month, so it took awhile before I had all of the RSN's for my area. Do you get the alternate channels in the guide, or just the main feed of each channel? The funny thing is, I live in a zip code that qualifies for the Cubs, White Sox, Twins, Royals and Cardinals, but they only lit up NBCS and FSM. Not that I’m complaining; it’s a nice addition

Okay, so some of the teams you listed may show up on those alt channels from time to time.Yes, there are a whole bunch of alt sports channels in the guide now

Yep. Dish doesn't carry Fox Sports Kansas City as a full-time RSN, so when the Royals are on, they are one of the ALT channels.
