Hey Guys,

Need some help, I want to improve the Coaxial Signal Running from the Vip 622 for the second TV. The first one is connected via HDMI to Panasonic Plasma.

Then I have another panasonic Plasma in the bedroom with which I have connected a the coaxial.

The signal is not great, is there a way I can upconvert that signal to like a HDMI connection?

Like if I buy a DVD receiver or something, connect the coaxial to it, and then use HDMI from the receiver to the TV?

Thanks!!

The distance of the cable running from the Dish 622 downstairs to the TV upstairs is about 40-50ft.

I haven't tried the modular output to a different channel, I'll take a look into it.

Also, on the dish HDTV settings i have it set to 1080i plus 16X9, and the analog is off air, not sure what that is but that is the setting.

I use to have a Olevia 26" LCD where the quality looked real good, but with I would expect the same of the SD content on the 42" Panasonic Plasma.

Not sure if the cable is bad from the output from the wall to the TV, or if I need to convert the signal to like HDMI somehow.

Thanks!

Since your using the Vip622 HDMI output to your number 1 TV you could buy a set of extremely long component cables for TV 2. That of course is assuming you'd be willing to watch the same thing on both TV sets. Long component cables are readily available from places like monoPrice or others.

Yeah unfortunately that won't work. We need independent viewing.

What I thought would work is buying like a dvd set using the coaxial for TV 2 to go there, then using like component or hdmi to my TV.

Not sure if it that works or if im completely off track.

Thanks.

Go into Menu, 6, 1, 5 and change the output in TV2 to cable channel 73. Go to TV2 and change the TV to cable channel 73 and start from there. When I setup mine, I tried every single one of them and channel 73 gave me the best results. For some reason, 83, 93, and 103 were pretty close too. Just play with the channels and see what gives you the best picture.

If the picture still doesn't look good, then you may need to go with composite cable. They sell runs up to 50 ft at Monoprice:

Thanks Randall - so if I end up going with the composite option, that would still provide indepdent viewing for TV2 right? Thanks!

Personally I use a small signal amplifier off the coax outputs on both our 625 and Vip622 to help with the long runs of RG6 I have strung through the attic to four additional TV sets. I picked them up at RadioShack and there is a noticeable difference in picture quality with them on or off. With just one additional TV set composite cables as was previously mentioned would probably be your best bet though.

You are never going to get any better than 480i off TV2 output. Set it in the lower range of channels available, either OTA (21,22,23,etc.) or cable (73,74,etc.) for the best RF through RG-6. Composite does not fare well over distances so RF over RG-6 is probably your best bet.

Or get another HD receiver, maybe a ViP221.

Thanks guys that did help a lot -- channels 82/83 worked real well, along with channel 100, I have it set to 83 at the moment, HD quality is great, SD is pretty good, though a bit blurry.

Now, I just have to see if there is a way I can get my locals in HD, for some reason i thought DIsh would offer them, but they dont.
