So,

Armed with the answers that some of you so graciously provided me with when I asked about this topic a while back, I went outback and put my temporary pole in the ground.

Only took about 5 minutes and I'm getting 50-60 signal on both birds. I really just wanted to check things out (for fun only).

I do think the SD looks better on EA. When they light my locals up, I will probably switch to a 1000.4 and 'move' back home.

Anyway, thanks for the help guys.

Do those of you with this 4-sat setup get duplicates, or triplicates, or even quadruplicates of the same channel?

No duplicates in the guide or when selecting channels. We have 110/119/72.7/61.5 and since I added 72.7 to the DPP44 most of the channels come from 72.7 and 61.5. It seems like the receiver picks the MPEG4 version of a channel if it's available. As for the channels like HDNET that are in MPEG4 on both 110 and 72.7, some days the receiver picks the 110 version and some days 72.7. I haven't noticed a pattern as to how it decides.

Well nuts! Seems the only way to compare mpeg-4 SD with mpeg-2 SD would be to use two receivers, one of which is mpeg-2 only.

Speaking of which, has anybody had trouble reactivating their old SD receivers after having an EA dish installed? I just got mine done yesterday, but I have only a 722 and 2 612's on my account right now. I kept my old D500 on 110/119 in case I wanted to do what you all have done, and also to make reactivation of my old receivers possible, if not sanctioned by Dish, at my residence.
