I understand that a few warehouses got a small shipment in today. I would expect it to be another week or two before they start rolling them out.

yes the Dish 500+ will be available there...

Remember however you dont need one of these unless you want the internationals offered there or if your local HD channels are there (I dont believe any Florida HD channels are there) so chances are good you wont need one of these.

How does this system get access to 118

Scott,

I've been a Dish customer for over 8 years, having gone from a 1000 to a 2800 and now to a VIP211 receiver.

My antenna setup uses separate 18" dishes for 119, 110, and 61.5 connected as shown in the attached pdf (SW21-X and SW-21 connections.pdf). It all works well.

What would be needed in my case to add 118.75 assuming that's where the Cleveland HD locals will be added?

Thanks.

Internationals

Does the delay in moving the internationals to 118.7 effect the equipment you get? Can I request a + dish with my HD upgrade even though the German channels I subscribe to are still on 121?

As far as I know, the Dish LNBF for 118.75 is a DishPro type requiring either a DP34 or DPP44 switch.
Legacy equipment will not marry.

Yup - it's time for Intrac to move into the 21st century (ie. DishPro) with his dishes.

There's NO reason to use 3 separate pans in Cleveland.

They just evolved.

There was no reason to update the dish on 119 when I had the model 1000, and then got the 110 dish when I moved to the 2800. I did the installs myself. They were easy and cheap.

The 61.5 dish was added for HD with the VIP211. Again, fast, easy and cheap.

It would seem a shame to discard these now, and only if the HD locals are on 118.

118.7 is a FSS band and not compatible with your other lnbs and switches, if you need this you don't have a choice but to upgrade, PS the dish is almost as big as a super dish

Dish Dude

Thanks for the info.

So the DishPro500+ with a DP34 will get rid of my current 119 and get 118.7 and 119. The DP34 will then connect the new 118x to the 110.

How do I get the 61.5 in there?

Or should I re-align the 61.5 to 129 for the HD for now and then change to the DishPro1000+ and get rid of all my separate dishes?

intrac,

The two new dishes "Dish 500+" and "Dish 1000+" are identical except the 1000+ has an extra bracket and LNBF. If you were to buy the 500+, you should be able upgrade it later with a kit which would be nothing more than a bracket and LNBF that connects to the LNBF cluster.

However, if you think you were going to go that route, I would just skip the 500+ and go with the 1000+ to begin with, it should cost less. Although not currently in stock, Sadoun is advertising the following:
......500+ with DP34 switch --_ $199.00 (119/110/118.7)
....1000+ with DPP44 switch -- $339.00 (119/110/118.7/129)

The DP34 will only handle 3 birds and probably would become spare parts if you had to go and buy a DPP44 for 4 birds at $200.

However, right now it doesn't look like you need 118.7 for HD locals, but I guess we need to wait and see. http://ekb.dbstalk.com/119klist

I guess you only need 61.5 for HD, although 129 should work. The quality of 129 is being debated by many. You could always disconnect the cable from 118.7 or 129 to the DP34/DPP44 switch and connect a cable from your 61.5 dish and aligned it for either 61.5 or 129, but if it has a legacy LNBF, you should replace it with a DishPro LNBF (maybe the one from the 1000+ for 129).

SmityWhity,

If the HD locals (Cleveland) don't go to 119x, then I don't have to do anything, which is fine with me and my wallet.

I get 119, 110 and 61.5 quite well with my separate dishes.

Oh yeah, you definately can. you'll need to wait a little bit longer though. I'm waiting for the new + dishes to officially become available through 800.333.DISH for my german int'ls too. I called them just today and still not available -with no specific availibility date either according to the CS Rep i spoke with. i'm doing this so i can get ProSiebenSat1.Welt at my new apt. the german channels are already being broadcast on the 118.75W. that was confirmed back on June 4th by someone with his own equipment. I wonder if dish's upcoming promotions for the + dishes will be better than ie: $199 for Dish500+ -for new dish customers.

Help: did I lease or purchase my 921 f/ Allsat?

Benefit to owning a receiver??
