I never had a 1000 so I can't compare SS but the 1000.2 can drive 3 DPP receivers and the 1000 only 2. You also have an satellite input for a 4th satellite the 1000 doesn't.
The only thing I do not like about the 1000.2 is that you cannot use a DP Twin like you could with the regular DISH 1000. It requires a special bracket and (3) Dual LNB's

Is the 1000+ still available? that's what i got in January. it's like 30", and is supposed to be the best for 129. yes, i got it to get programming on 118, that i'm no longer subscribing to, but I still have the 1000+ (with a DPP44 switch - which gets 110, 118.7, 119 and 129).
