Hi:

I live at the border of OH and WV in SE Ohio and have had no luck with the 129 LNB on my Dish 1000. I read and read moved and tinkered, connected the DPP Twin first w/o the Dual and got beautiful signals off the 110 and 119 birds, then attached the 129 which was always recognized but alas no signal. Toyed with azimuth and elevations until my fingers froze over 10 days and reached the painful conclusion the the Dish 1000 is basically a Dish 500 in my area (oh yeah "Congrats, you have Dish 500" channel is on too).

Too bad that Dish post the 129 transponder 17 spread covering large areas of the US except New England and Florida. The reality is very different. The irony of it is that i cannot even get a marginal signal off 129 where i live.

I would love to hear from people in my area or other neighboring to the East states regarding this issue.

I have resolved to getting another dish and put the Dual LNB on it then try to feed it the DPP Twin LNB-in and see if it works with the 61.5 satellite. If not i will buy another switch.

Please let me know your thoughts. Input greatly appreciated.

I'm in chicago.. a couple of questions..

1. any trees in the way ?
2. is your mast level
3. is your skew set right
4 is your elevation set right
5 whats your zipcode so we can give you your correct values to double check.
6. where is your dish installed at...
7. Whats your setup... DPP Twin... or 34 swich... (what lnbfs are on the dish going to what switches if any)
8. have you gotten a reading off of 119.
9. what recivers do you have...
10. have you preformed a check switch after properly aligning the d1000

I understand you have answered some of these q's in your post above... just ignore the ones that you allready have asked and answer the others :)

These basic questions will help us determin what exactly might be going on.. :) were here to help.

45750 here.

Mast is plumb and i lock 119 and 110 like a charm. Signal on 119 transponder 19 is 87.

The check switch screen shows the 129 not connected all the time.

No switches, just what is provided with the Dish 1000 ie DPP Twin receiving signal from DP Dual.
Output one from Dual goes to LNB input on DPP Twin (its own switch) then output one from this
one feeds an 811.

I performed check switches and get everything off 110 and 119 but no 129.

Dish 1000 piece of Sh%t!!!

I tried this
I was aiming the D 1000 with an 811 played around for 2 days trying to get 129 no luck. Took a 322 and used that to aim the d1000 and plugged directly into the 129 sat and was able to get 89 on the 129 transponders and 90 's on most tp on 110 and 119. Look on the web and find out what 129 transponder is used in your area for locals and use that one to aim. Also remember the look andgle elevation on the D1000 is considerately lower on the 1000 compared to a 500.

I probably live close to where you live Kandiru. What is your location? I live close to the Ohio River as well in Western WV. Maybe I can help you out. I have not had anyone contact me about any issues with their satellite. I do know that the signal in this area is in the 70's at best maybe 80 if your lucky. It takes around 40 to get a lock.

Have you done what dodge said?

That is, connect DIRECTLY to the 129 LNB and aim the dish. If you can't get signal with nudges from where you're starting, move EAST 9 degrees and UP 2 (give or take) until you find 119 with the 129 LNB. That will tell you that the LNB is good at least.

There's very little doubt that he shouldn't be getting at least a slight signal off 129 if he's getting 110/119 perfectly. I think SimpleSimon is right on the money as to what is wrong. The 811 is recognizing the lnb but no signal. That doesn't mean that the lnb isn't bad but I would bet he has LOS issues.

The LNB is OK because it shows 119 signal.

My last chance i guess is to just connect the 129 LNB, get a lock, then attach the DPP Twin.

Will let you know soon about the results.

Hey Dodge,

Any luck locking the 129 just using the 811 witout the DPP Twin connected?

OK the xxxxing 811 can't even see the 129. Keeps getting wrong sat (110 and 119) even when connected directly.

I went on ebay and got the DP-34 switch and a Pro Dual Twin LNB to replace the DPP Twin. I could have gone the DP-44 route but that one is a powered switch and i don't want extra lines.

Will post on results. If not posting, assume that i am in a straight jacket heavily sedated after a major breakdown :)

Baseball bat with 129 LNB attached may teach the 811 a hard(ware) lesson too :) and save me the hospital bills.

After you run the initial check switch and take the initial download be sure that you are going back in and running another sheck switch. If yoor reciever shows you an option for Superdish or Alternate, select alternate before running the second check switch. You may want to look and be sure that you have the lastest software too.

Kandiru, just another idea here to mix. What version of software are you running on your 811? Earlier versions didn't recognize the 129 as an option. It may be just a matter of needing the latest software upgrade.

PM me if you need help. I routinely will do installs and troublecalls down your way; Jefferson, Belmont, Guernsey counties...etc.

I think he has 129 on it as he says that when he hooked up his other lnbf to it that it said he had the wrong satellite. He was probably picking up 119 or 110 from the 129 lnbf. I do know that it has to scan for satellites once you hit 119 or 110 in order to get 129 sometimes. If you leave your receiver on then it will not get the software updates.

I live close to Meigs county, Ohio close to the Ohio River. If your in the same area then maybe I could help you out with your problem.

Make sure your there isn't any obstructions (trees, roof, etc) to the right about 10 degrees and down a few degrees. With the 129 here in alabama its only about 29 degrees and just barely sees over my roof. I took out my inclinometer to make sure it was even going to make it over but it did by about 2 degrees. Start over and make sure the mast is level and get 110/119. Make small adjustments (elevation/azimuth) until you see a signal. If you don't have a meter get your wife on the phone while your on the cell phone with her. If your mast is plumb then you shouldn't have to mess with the skew. Good luck.

Stargazer,

Do you have the 811 hooked to the D1000 or another receiver. Tried what not rebooted, waited 15 minutes, always updating sats 110 and 119 not 129.

I dont have an 811 receiver. I have had them hooked up to a 2700, a few 301's, and a 311 when installing for other people. I still use my SuperDish at my house. The locals in our market for Charleston/Huntington DMA is on 105 (SuperDish) and 129 (Dish1000). If you can see 129 on the receiver then its fine. Sometimes you have to get 119 or 110 in in order to see 129 if its not there already. Tell us what software version your receiver has in which you can get in the receiver info screen. If your skew is set correctly (with the mast/pole perfectly plumb on all sides) then by getting 119 in 110 and 129 should pull right in as well. In this area the settings should be around 30 elevation 127 skew. What do you have yours set on?
