I'm New to FTA ..was a Dish user years ago. A friend suggested a dish 1000 and Fortec Lifetime Ultra for my setup. I live in Southside VA on the NC border. Is this a good setup for a newbie? Thanks!

I dont know if DPP LNBs are compatible with FTA boxes. And honestly instead of spending $100 plus shipping on a dish that will only give you NASA and GOL plus music, spend roughly $160 with our site Sponsor SGA for a Winegard Dish/Stab rotor combo and pickup everything FTA.

Or even Sadoun :)

But yes, Tre is correct, a Dish1000 no matter what LNBs are on it will only get you two video channels and some music channels legally. If you are looking to get anything else out of that, then you are looking at hacking which is not tollerated here.

A true FTA system uses a 30" or bigger dish, with a Linear (or FSS) LNB, and most systems have a motor to move the dish from one satellite to another.
