no 110 on dish 1000.2 HELP

Guys, I changed to a 1000.2 dish buz my locals are going to 129 from 121. I had a Super dish. Ok I got the new dish up and was little confused on the directions and lnb stuff but I got that figured out. Here is my problem. I only have a 4900 receiver, now will this work with the 1000.2 ?? I did grab my inlaws spare dish 311 to get the signal verified on 119. That is at 112.... BUT when I do a check switch I get only 129 and 119. I also took off my DP adapter on my 4900 and got that going and same issue shows 129 and 119.

sat 129 119 Conn x
pol All All X x
dev 1K.2 1K.2 1K.2 N.C.

Why am I not getting 110?? Do I have the cables wrong? I did have a DP34 switch on it but found I don't need that anymore so I just connect them straight thru and this is all I can get. Any suggestions on what to do?? I did make new cables from the LNBs.

I also think I will need to upgrade if I only run my 4900 off this dish correct? Unless I have another 301,311,322, etc..... on another port?

Thanks for any info I can get....

You have the dish pointed wrong. It should read 119, 110, 129 on your check switch. Looks like you have the dish pointed to low and to far to the right if you are standing behind the dish.

Correct me if I have gone crazy but when did 110 jump in the middle of 119 and 129?

ccarbo: is it only on the 4900 or all receivers you have?

Has nothing to do with where the sats are received on the Dish. The check switch will show 119, 110, 129 in that order, when the dish is pointed correctly.

With the check switch showing 129 first it tells me the 119 LNB on the dish is receiving the 129 satellite. SO again dish is to low and to far right.

Ok, I will repoint and try again..... I read using foil on 129,110 to block and just dial in 119. Will try that and report back. thanks for your help.

The way the LNB is crafted, they assign the 119 feed to port 1, 110 to port 2 and 129 to port 3... crazy as it is, this follows through in DP and DPP mode as well in the check switch screen. It gets people to understand they need to peak on 119 for this dish.

The number one problem even the newbie techs have getting the 1000.2 lined up right, is not having the mast PERFECTLY level. Dish needs to borrow D* masts that can pivot so you can actually get them perfectly leveled.
If it's even slightly crooked you will be pulling out hair, and saying those words Mom told you not to, trying to align it.

As others have said, your missing 110 because your too low.

But if the mast is crooked and you do get the 110 & 119, you'll most likely be missing the 129(that piece of crap bird they call a satellite)

Thanks, the mast is pretty much dead on..... I am going to foil 110/129 then dial in 119. I got 114 strength but sounds like I am pointed to 129 not 119. I did lower it couple degrees cuz i thought I was on the right sat. Will post my results. thanks!

I rarely use a 1000.2 because in my area our HD locals are on 118, but why would you peak on 119? Yes the bulk of your programming comes from 119 but 129 is the weakest satellite, therefore the most critical. I would peak the dish on 129.

I have had a couple of Check switches that read 129 first. It turned to be that the reflector was bent. Put on another reflector and 119 came in first. I always peak on 129 with a W bracket. Then put on the 1000.2 braket.

Absolutely. If you know what you're doing, mast is level, and stable, peak off the weakest and everything pops. I do the same with the 118.

Well, for a DIY, 119 should be easiest to find as it is PORT 1 with no Diseqc and the receiver is already tuned to 119. After finding this satellite, it is agreed that the customer should then switch to 129 t31 and max out the signal there.

With my Birdog, I point 119 first and get it locked, then I switch to 129 for the final tweaking.
