Does anyone know where I can get the info for local channels and what spot beam they reside on, and a map of the US with the spot beams?

Here is a pretty good map of the spot beams. You'll have to cross reference another source to find out what channels are actually broadcasting on which beam.

And ANOTHER with built-in city / channel / transponder cross-ref information. They can be a few months behind on updating new cities, but a great tool.

Okay I guess Ill share my magic link to all D*,V* and E* sats:
Just pick your bird and click on the "p" - for all the channels on each transponder!

Thanks guys!

I was wanting to see how big the spot beam was for Tyler, Texas locals and it looks like it isn't that big at all. Oh well. :)

Sorry, but your lyngsat links for D* do NOT tell you which CHANNELS are on which X-PONDERS (other than a spotbeam name) - you might to check this out for yourself. ;) ;) ;)

I believe you mis-interperted the website, 1st click the link below, then choose your Directv satellite, once you have, look to you left. There you will see "Freq and Tp" which means the "Transponders and their Frequencies". If you put your cursor over the transponder you will see the frequency each transponder uses in MHz in the status bar at the bottom left of your webpage. Next, scroll to your right of any of those transponders and you will see the letter "p" in a box after the Directv logo, click that "p" and then you will see all the channels on that transponder:

NO, actually YOU have. What you are saying does NOT work on the D* birds at all! When you click on the P (package) link on ALL the D* birds, it does NOT tell you what channels are on each x-ponder WHATSOEVER - it ONLY tells you that a certain channle is on the BIRD & if it's on a national or spotbeam. (which I assume you DO know has nothing to do with which specific x-ponder a channel is on) You also DO know that the P on a given bird is ALL the digital channels on that entire BIRD, NOT the specific x-ponder.

OK, since you seem to think you are SO sure, tell me which x-ponder on 101 CNN IS on.
Hint: maybe you should actually TRY this stuff out yourself BEFORE you post it as gospel... ;) ;)

Its a SHAME that we have SmartASSed people on here who think they know it all! If you want to get technical, I guess your smart enough to know that all channels are mirrored on two or more transponders! Oh, yeah as for CNN, it actually on all 32 Transponder of SAT101! :shocked

Now thats Funny!!! :D :yes Your correct! Tell you what Ill look into this a little More! :yes Hey, what happened to my other Post? Did I delete it or something?

Neutron, there isn't sufficient information regarding the DirecTV 7S satellite to show a correct spot-beam configuration map. The map from the EKB site was acutally used in a report funded by the NRTC to stop the Echostar/DirecTV merger. The author of that report, Walter Morgan, guessed what DirecTV 7S would look like.

However, from the extrapolations I've worked on, the Tyler locals are on the same transponder as the Shreveport locals, and the spot doesn't appear to be all that large. This is the map I have been working from.
