Directv R15 download

How can i copy programs off of my Directv Philips R15 DVR to a PC.

They are replacing it and I would like to save the recorded programs or copy them to the new unit.

AFAIK the only way to copy from the R15 is to get a video capture card on your PC and feed the video/audio out from the R15 to the capture card. But once you've done that there is no way to get it onto the new DVR, the only way it will record things is from the dish. You might want to see about just burning the shows to DVD's and keep them on that media.
