I would like to be able to take the shows I record to my DVR, and put them onto my computer. Please let me know the best way to do this.

(I purchased a Western Digital MyDVR expander, so that my shows could be on an external hard drive and then take them from there to my computer but my computer does not even recognize the hard drive when its plugged in)

That external drive once connected to an HR2x DVR can only be used on that DVR. The DVR formats the drive for exclusive use by that DVR. It can't even be moved to another DVR for viewing the show.

No easy way. Even DirecTV2PC won't work for MAC, and that only does local streaming.

You can use any SD capture device to record (real time only), or Hauppauge makes a HD capture device that takes component input, but again, real time recording only, not sure if it works on mac.

The Hauppauge HD PVR works great on a Mac, if you have Elgato's EyeTV software. I use it all the time on my (non-Pro) MacBook to capture HD stuff from my DVRs.
