I have HD ready Samsung TV. I have a DirecTV HD receiver/tuner, a Samsung SIR-TS160. A friend of mine is leaving town and has offered to leave me her DirecTV TiVO/receiver, the DVR R10. Can I use it or will I have too many receivers? Any comments are appreciated.

All you will have to do is make sure you have additional lines going to your DVR receiver. Needs 2 lines for full functionality. Then, call and get it activated.

thanks, so I'll need two lines from the HD receiver into the TiVO reciever? Where does the television get its input from? Sounds like I should get a splitter...

No -- two lines from the Dish or Multiswitch into the TiVo.

And yes, if your TV doesn't have multiple inputs, an input switch should be what you get.

Don't use coax for TiVo to TV, please. :)

Welcome to Satelliteguys! :welcome

The only drawback is you won't be able to record any HD on the R10.
