Directv dish/ Dish Network Box

I was just talking to my brother-in law making sure we had everything ready for tailgating for this weeks Bengals home game and he told me he had an extra Directv dish. He now has Dish Network with multiple receivers. Can we use the Directv dish with one of his Dish Network boxes?

Yes...but do a switch check with nothing connected first, hook up the coax to the D* dish ...then find Satellite and do another switch check.

Well if it is one of the old single LNB D* dishes yes. If it is a newer 3 LNB multi-sat dish no.
