Direct TV

I am a newbe so please be patient. I have a Direct TV satallite receiver model #HBH-SA with no card. It also has "HUGHES" on the front. Can this be used or converted to receive FTA signals?

I've never run into any such conversion. You might be better advised to pick up a used Coolsat 5000, from ebay or another auction, and have a versatile box to start out with. They are going pretty cheap ( under $50 certainly ) . Conversely , you could look at the bundled kits offered by Sadoun and SatelliteAV at the top of the page for a complete system.
