thinking of switching to direct tv, but still want my cable internet.

1. how many lines do they need to run just for the direct tv?

2. if only 1 line, can they use the existing cables lines? and be able to get cable internet and directtv on the same lines?

I have a finished basement, and would be a royal pain for installing 2nd lines.

1. Depends on what receiver you get, a regular receiver requires one line a DVR type receiver requires two lines.

2. That depends on how old the lines are, they may need to run newer lines. Also you can not get internet and directv on the same cable, they require seperate lines.

What Cable co are you with. When i switched to Dish 2 years ago i kept basic cable so the internet would stay the same price. Now im with E and no problems either. Check were the cable lines come in and if there isnt one put a splitter on it so you will always have an internet connection.
