Diplexing SWM

Ok. Been out of the business for a couple years.
Got a question.
My brother bought a home in a neighborhood where the local cable company supplies local channels to each home as part of their HOA fees.
He wants Directv installed at the home.
I told him diplexing in the cable sig would be possible.
Of colurse I am going off pre SWM technology. Can anyone verify whether or not this is possible.
Please do not offer scenarios of various options as this is THE ONLY method by which the install is to be done.

I believe old school install yes, SWM not so much BUT I could be wrong but I've yet been able to do it and make it work. I've tried several times.

Many will say don't diplex swm. It does work, but kills multi room viewing or mrv.

You can diplex OTA and SWM for a fact and doesn't affect MRV. I have done it.

Not sure about diplexing a cable tv stream though.

Not to hijack this thread but I'm hoping there will be a way. We are having cable internet installed and are looking at possibly Directv for satellite in our place and we are looking at MRV.

i need some help on this too. at the old house i had the ota antenna and swm diplexed. i do the exact same setup at the home i bought last year and it doesn't work. difference is theres much more distance between the antenna/dish and the receiver. anyone know a solution besides running another cable along side for ota which i will not do?

I tried to diplex from my antenna to a office. A run of about 50'. The DirecTV box was not getting any signals, but the OTA came through fine. I was using Holland brand diplexers. Any idea of why it did not work?

if using standard Swm odu yes but its tricky
Better is using a Swm8 would be best.

swm8 you have a ota/catv in a and can amp the signal prior to swm8

odu install you would use nas std-9150 (cheap) or Sonora AD14 with that you can inject catv/ ota to your system but need to use swm white labe splitters one splitter at the junction to split to how many rooms you need if you only need 2 rooms use a 2 way splitter not the 8way. then in each room you want catv/dtv just put another swm white labe 2 way on each .

To regain WHDVR you need to hard wire cat-5/6 to each hd/hdvr box and plug them all into a router.

if you could give a lay out or diagram of how its wired could offer a better solution using other gear like the mdu3xfltro

FYI side note . Most new homes build int he last 5 years and some prior use cat-5 as phone wiring so one could swap the plates and make proper conections in the junction to plug into a router

As a few others have posted, I've found that diplexing does work. Have been able to keep MRV going...but it seems to kill the frequency that the Home Cinema Kit uses.
