i am switching from dish to directv and only downside i have is i cant get CW which i did get on dish. i was told my the customer service rep that after every became digital feb 17 then i would be able to receive it....anyone know if theres any truth to this or were they just telling me that to get me to switch??? i dont understand what will allow me to get it about the digital transition....

If you can not get the CW locally you can get a waiver and receive it out of DC now . the digital transfer does not matter

so i can just call cust service and tell them i dont get it locally and theyll give me a waiver? does this cost anything and how long a process is this from the time i call til i actually get the channel?

It all depends on the CSR you get, you may have to call a dozen times before someone seems to know what a waiver means... more than likely they will hear ..."Sup! Someone is asking me to Wave Here"

Gotta watch Family Guy and Simpsons :)

well once they establish i want a waiver is it a long drawn out process to actually get the waiver and get the channel???

It can be, D* is very inconsistent on issuing National Networks (LA/NY) Some get it no problem, some have to fight for weeks... its a total crap shoot.

When DirecTV first added The CW as a DNS I checked the eligibility page and saw that I could get it. I then called DirecTV to add it. It's the SD version, I wish they would add the HD one as DNS.

It's not that easy for the other networks.

sorry...im not real tech savy but whats dns and how can i check to see im eligible?

Does DirecTV offer locals to Mobile? If so, maybe they don't have a CW affiliate there.

In my case, I had The CW within five minutes after requesting it.

How much do you verify on your satellite installation?
