So...before I make the call to see what my options are I figured I should go ahead and post this hear so I'll know what to expect and know if the CSRs are feeding me some BS. I am a 5-6 year customer and have always been on a plan called Digital Home Plan (not sure what that means). I lease (2) receivers, one 811 (that I got through a previos Dish'n it Up) and one old 311. My monthly bill currently looks like this:

DHP w/ AT60, 1 RCVR, Locals --- 39.99
Leased receiver fee --- 5.00
HD Package --- 9.99

What I'd like to know is since I'm an existing customer, what happens if I upgrade to one of the new receivers? Will I finally be able to change to the DHA plan or whatever is now current? Also, do the new HD package plans come with any SD channels or are they just HD channels? I'm thinking of adding a 2nd and possibly 3rd TV in the next year so I guess I'll need to consider that as well. Thanks in advance.

the hd packages include the AT channels for each package.
Like if you wanted to keep the SD channels on AT60 and wanted HD it would be called Dish HD Bronze. to upgrade, you'd just return your 811 for a 211 (if you want like for like) and the $5 leased receiver fee would go up to $6 and the old HD package would be dropped. I'm pretty sure DHP is the promotion you joined dish on and can never change.

So your upgrade would be

DHP w/ Dish HD Bronze, 1 RCVR, Locals --- 59.99
HD Leased Receiver fee --- 6.00

What exactly is DHP? What makes it different than the other programs they offer? Since the HD locals are about to be released in the DC area would they be included in this as well or would they cost even more?

HD locals come with SD locals when available

DHP = Digital Home Plan, it was the new customer lease promotion, before the current Digital Home Advantage came along.

DHP includes the warranty, and since you say you've been around 5-6 years, your version of DHP has free service calls as well

211/411 - L2.64 I received

No Soup for you!
