Detroit sports in 2008 are starting to remind me of Boston in late 2007

In the fall of 2007, Boston was the sports capital of America, with how well most of their teams did.

Right now, I think it's safe to say that Detroit has the best shot of taking that crown, especially in hockey and basketball.

(Tigers aren't done yet, and the Lions WILL be very good in 2008. Eventually, the spell of bad luck will end, and this will be the year)

Let's not forget they have the best P.A. announcer and anthem singers in their respective sports.

I met Karen many years ago, I was at the Joe early and a friend of mine was showing me around the Joe, places the normal fans can't go. ( he works with me and also works at the Joe.)

Had a nice talk with Karen before the game, caught up with her a few other times as well.... Very nice person as well.
She also does or did some singing with Bob Seger

You'd be amazed how many women at the Joe try to look JUST LIKE HER...

Most memerable Announcer (not PA) in Detroit would have to be Ernie Harwell.
I listened to Ernie and Paul when I was a kid, every night, right up to when Erine was pushed out of the booth. (if I remember right, it was the Late Bo that did that, thats the only thing Bo did that I really didn't like).

Bud Lynch does a great job for the Red Wings and has been doing it as long as I can remember, been with the organization for like 50 years now

Just curious. What made you think this?

The Lion's had the 31st worst ranked pass defense last year. They also had the 23rd worst defense against the run AND traded away their best defensive lineman (Shaun Rogers) in the offseason! It doesn't get much better on offense either. Last year, the Lion's were ranked 31st in rushing.

Quite simply put: The Lions will need to figure out how to win in the trenches before they'll be seeing any sort of success in this league.

Other than Minnesota, it doesn't look like many teams in the Central will be very good this year. they might actually have a chance.
