I have had a hell of a time trying to get HD working in my new apartment complex. Apparently they have a DirecTV system setup already through a third-party vendor which provides the service. However as I am trying to get HD up on their system I have run into an expensive roadblock.
What they claim is that there are 2 downconverters ($119 a piece) which are required and also a multiswitch ($119) in order to get one TV on DirecTV's HD. I also had to go out to Best Buy and purchase an HD receiver. I called DirectTV and they were not only not allowed to send out equipment to my location, but they also had never heard of this being necessary?
Can anyone help me, I would love to get the model numbers of what I need and simply purchase it online to save spending $400 to get HD before the extra $12 a month. Comcast was so much easier.
