Can someone explain to me about dead pixels in an LCD TV. I was leaning towards getting one til someone informed me about them. What causes them? Can they be repaired? I also heard that there must be 4 of them before they are considered defective. Is this true? I spotted a couple of good deals online but am unsure now. One was a 32" zenith floor model and the other was only a month old. These deals will be gone today....help, fast.

i don't know what causes them, but when i got my new lcd tv, it had one dead pixel. in my case, the tv is 55 inches and up close it is noticable and very distracting, but if i am in my chair about ten feet away, i can't see it. i have heard something about having four dead ones before the service warranty or extended warranty would counsider it deffective. don't know for sure since i have not researched it. if i get another one, i will be reading up on it.

yep. i am sure i could of complained and got a new one. but from where i sit, you can't notice it. i look at it this way. if four dead pixels is the magic number to get a new tv, i already have one only three more to go. i have the four year warranty.
