Daunte Culpepper to the Raiders?

he also had a work out with the bucs. i heard chucky was still interested because jake plummer didn't show up for training camp (surprise). but tampa has 4 or 5 quarterbacks in camp.

Why does the Bucs need another QB when they have Chris Simms? He did a very good job before his appendix burst in the middle of a game in which he finished playing and could have died. That is dedication and he gets this in return.

well, culpepper signed a one-year deal with the raiders.

i'm not going to disagree with you, ramy. but i'm reading there were still some question marks about whether simms was at full health. he didn't exactly start last season firing on all cylinders before his appendix burst. i reckon jeff garcia will start the season as the number one qb.....subject to change, of course!

He ruptured his spleen, plus he's not doing well in camp.

Culpepper, Oakland complete 1-year deal as Russell remains unsigned

NAPA, Calif. -- Free-agent quarterback Daunte Culpepper signed a one-year contract with Oakland on Tuesday, giving the Raiders a backup plan for top draft pick JaMarcus Russell.

Culpepper, 30, worked out in the afternoon before a gathering of Raiders scouts and coaches in a private workout. Raiders coach Lane Kiffin announced the signing shortly after the team completed practice.

"We had to see him run around, scramble and do different things because his arm didn't go away,'' Kiffin said. "We weren't really worried about that. We had to make sure everything else was good.''

ESPN - Culpepper signs with Raiders; Russell still in limbo - NFL

It's official, He's a Raider.

Well at least we know which body part won't be injured in the first 20 sacks he suffers in the first 4 games.

I don't think he will be sacked as much as everyone thinks. This is NOT Walter back there....that guy was a stiff....if he was any slower, he would be going backwards!
Dante will get himself and the offense out of jams....again, I am praying for an 8-8 season but I would be happy with a COMPETATIVE 6-10 season.

Well they don't get too much press if any, but what additions, or additions by subtraction has the OL made? Hell Gallery has taken a ton of heat but he rarely gets to play his natural pos and there are more holes than just near him! We also have to realize they are now under yet another new OL scheme/system. I too think Culpepper is an slight improvement over Watler, but hell, Brooks couldn't get away either and he was easily a better athlete of the three and THAT was the main reason they brought him in; cause he sure was not a great QB!

You know....the signing of Brooks was THE dumbest signing the Raiders had made in a very long time. I am still predicting a competative 6-10 season.

I still love Al, he is one of the best things about the old NFL and keeps the new NFL hopping, kind of like an old school Mark Cuban, BUT IMHO he needs to rethink the long ball mentality; the best thing the Raiders can do regardless of their QB, is to go to the dink & dunk west coast style. I know he hates it with a passion for the same reasons I do (I ain't football) but he has to start winning some games.
