Dallas Area OTA HD Antenna info

HI again all.

Well, I finished pulling the four wires to my new Phase III dish. All is excellent.

Now then, I have seen osme posts with people asking about OTA reception in the Dallas Metroplex.

I'm up in the Frisco area....north of Dallas.

I just installed a Radio Shack 80" UHF/VHF antenna in my attic.

It's picking up all the main locals just fine. 4-1, 5-1, 8-1, 8-2, 11-1, 13-1, 21-1, 21-2, and so on.

Antennaweb said I needed a "Red" antenna for a couple of these, but this antenna is marked as green. It's what fit in the area I had to work in.

Anyway, just wanted to pass along this information to fellow Dallas-ites.

Thanks for the info. It's helpful to me as I'm currently investigating that route I want to go with HD.

What HDTV receiver are you using? I'm assuming it's the one supplied to you by D*? If so, a couple of questions:

Did you get "a deal" on it?

If you decide to not use it as a D* receiver (i.e. cancel the HDTV package from D*), are you still able to use it as an OTA HDTV receiver?

I'm using the new HTL-HD. You are correct. You don't have to subscribe to DTV's HD service to receive the OTA HD signals.

Is signal strength "relative" depending on which STB you have?
