D*'s Same TV for Less? Really? Commercial Against E*

What do you think about D*'s commercial against E*'s "basic package?"

What is becoming clear is Charlie and Dish Network are prepared to go heads-up with DirecTV in the marketing war. That to me is the interesting thing to watch.

The 922 is Rumored to Carry a $20 Fee after the first.

*Per month Extra if you have the same 2 types of receivers. The Charge is on the 2nd of these models receivers only Not the First.


Now it gets a little tricky!

Say you have a Vip 722 and a 622 on your account.
Your going to Pay $17 for the 622 Plus $6 DVR fee Total $23


Now say you have a 722 and a 211,
Your only paying $7 for the 211.
Plus $6 DVR fee Total $13


Say you have a 722 and 2 612.
Then your going to pay $10 for Each 612, So thats $20 in fees on a 4 room system .Plus a $6 DVR fee. Total $26

Directv on a 4 room DVR system is Still $22 per month. So $4 Cheaper goes to D*


Bottom Line if you have 2 Receivers, What ever receiver has the cheapest fee, is the receiver that you'll get charged the addtional fee on.
 
I ran the numbers and compared the number of TVs I would want wired:

1 HD and two SDs.

DirecTV: 3 receivers, regardless of HD, or DVR: $15

DISH: 2 receivers, one HD DVR, one SD DVR: $17

DISH: 2 receivers, one HD DuoDVR feeding 1 HD and 1 SD tv, one SD SoloDVR: $10

Same price. (DirecTV would be $10 with 3 receivers.)

You would save $5 in equipment fees over DirecTV.

nope, it will be a $1 difference over dish with dvr fee included; equal if you don't include the dvr fee. D* also includes the first receiver, so it will only be $10 for three boxes.

Wasn't counting DVR fee but if you did it is $1 less with Dish.
 
I would be paying $3 more with D*, and having a few extra channels.

It is worth it for me for one thing.

D* has my locals, E* doesn't.

I'll be switching as soon as my contract is up in June if E* doesn't have my locals by then.

Dish costs less than DirecTV is true. The reason Dish costs less is because of programming contracts. It's no secret that Charlie Ergen is as tight as they get when it comes to negotiating contracts.

DirecTV cost more but it can be argued that you get more when it comes to programming.

The good thing about Dish is it may cost less, however with Direct you don't have the problems with not having the right dish to get all their HD.
